American Storytellers Plan for 2026

Hello everybody,

I know it’s been awhile since I posted anything.  I want to introduce two new sections and explain a couple of things.  I know you, my hundreds of followers… (dirty look from my web guy, FL) … my dozens of followers … (dirty look from my editor, Tyna) … fine.  (I shoot a “so there” look at Tyna and FL) I know you, my followers, have been wondering why I haven’t posted a new blog in ages and why the promised YouTube channel is unlaunched.  There are reasons for those delays.  There have been health issues.  Mostly mine.  I don’t have a disease and I’m not dying in any immediate sense of the word.  It is a case of poor choices, poor biology and a capitalistic healthcare system all catching up to me at the same time.  That is as much detail as I am going to into on that subject because it is just depressing.

As a result of all that mess, the American Storyteller’s project is developing MUCH more slowly than I anticipated.  So, taking into account my demanding life, my deteriorating body and the stubborn, unyielding march of Time, I am reworking some things.  American Storyteller’s might remain mostly blogs for the foreseeable future.  However, there will be a lot of blogs coming quite soon.  I have a bunch of finished and partly finished scripts.  Many of them are on time sensitive topics like tariffs and election reform.  If I hold on to them until the channel is ready, they’ll be as stale as last year’s gingerbread house.

So here is my new plan:

I am going to rework the scripts into blogs and post them.  I am also going to reorganize the blogs into categories for easier research.  We are considering other additions to the website including a Q&A page, reviews of historical fiction, videos/channels, games etc., possibly some contests and a bunch of other ideas.  If you have any suggests please send them to us [email protected].  We’d love to hear your thoughts.

Our first new section is the Civics Lexicon.  This will be a collection of short articles defining and explaining terms frequently used in civics, politics and history, but are often not fully understood.  Words most of us kinda sorta know but can’t quite pin down the precise definition.  I mean, seriously, how many of us can precisely define “cloture”?  In addition to defining the term and exploring how it is used today, we will dive deep into how it was used in the past and its origins.  Psst, some of these words have really weird origins.  Every week or so, we will be posting short articles clarifying these slippery terms.  Let us know if there are any terms, jargon or buzz words that you would like us to unpack [email protected]

.

The other new section is designed to be interesting and educational. {BOO! }  What?! I’m teacher.  What’d ya expect?

Anyway, our new section focuses on the Amendments.  Stop that.  I can hear your yawns from here.  This is not what you think it is, I promise.  We are not going to focus on the famous Amendments.  We’ll get to those, but we are starting with the last Amendment, not the first.  There are some very cool Amendments you’ve never heard of.  For example, very few people know that the last Amendment was one of the first to be proposed.  And if you are between the ages of eighteen and twenty-one, did know that you owe your right to vote to all those long haired, freaky people protesting the Vietnam War?  Every Amendment has an interesting history, not just the famous ones.  So come check out the 27th Amendment and learn about the Congressional Salary Grab of 1869 … shoot, I meant 1873.  Sorry.  Anyway, check out The Amendments: Last to First, you’ll like it. 😉

So that’s the plan for American Storytellers going forward.  I hope you will stop back often to check out articles and other fun and factual items.  And thank you for your patience.  See you soon.
